Special thanks to Quincy, Helen and all staff at Bakehouse Studios for 20 years of rehearsals and for making us so welcome.
Deano Perry for making us take the plunge and run a crowdfunding campaign.
Kevin Ross and Michael Stifter for engineering and mixing so much music for us over the journey.

Extra special thanks to everyone who pledged their support and their dollars to this film – we couldn’t (and wouldn’t) have done it without you. Kinematic – no record label, no management, no bank roll and, some say, no clue.

But still as #independentaf

Thanks to our legendary crowdfunders

In 2003, we wrote much of our debut album Time & Place at Bakehouse Studios.  It took a further two years to record and release the album. So indie.

14 years, four albums and a crowd-funding campaign later, we returned to Bakehouse to produce a live album and concert film.  We recorded it all in a day and it was supposed to take a few months to complete.

It took us two years.  We’ve learned a lot along the way but, apparently, not how to do things more quickly.

A lot of good friends and colleagues helped us out (see liner notes above) but we really couldn't have done it without out pledgers from the crowdfunding campaign...

In Between (Live)   LYRICS | Film only

In Between   First released on The 38th Parallel

Always the last one left, always the last one trying
And when it gets too much, I never let it go
Ah, I'm trying, ah, I'm still ...

I believe I can like everyone else
I want to stay in between
I don’t need you knowing ‘bout everyone else
I want to stay in between

Always the first one out of any confrontation
And when it gets too much I try to play it slow
Ah, I'm trying, ah, I'm still ...

I believe I can like everyone else
I want to stay in between
I don’t need you knowing ‘bout everyone else
I want to stay in between, in between

I don’t need you knowing ‘bout everyone
I don’t need you knowing

Already Here (Live)   LYRICS

Already Here   First released on Kites

You say you are a child, adrift on a dangerous sea
I know the way you feel, I’m already here

You cannot know how far, nor which way you’ll fall
And through these lines, you’ll see
I’m already, I’m already here

And if you are resigned, in for a nervous wait
There’s always time to see, I’m already here

Come Into The Light (Live)   LYRICS

Come Into The Light   First released on Kinecism

Come into the light, do the danse macabre
Glow like ivory, give me a head start
Take what you are given but
Leave your hands where I can see them

Ah, isn’t it strange
Ah, how you never change

Oh, I keep running, oh, I keep running, oh-oh

A moment is a life, the Breaker had it right
The time that is left for me
Is shrinking like the Aral Sea

Ah, isn’t it strange
Ah, how you never ...

Oh, I keep running, oh, I keep running, oh-oh

Championship Vinyl (Live)   LYRICS | Album only

Championship Vinyl   First released on Time & Place

I've got a postcard from you here, part of my lost and ...
Found the place that made it clear, keeping my feet down
If I know you, you will get what you want, before I do
If I know me, I will let it all go, I always do

I just tell myself again, I wanna catch up on some change
One of those situations, you can always get what you want
I just tell myself again

I've got a picture of you here, I can see quickly
You've drained the colour from you here, but I like you this way
If I know you, you will get what you want, before I do
If I know me, I will let it all go, I always do

I just tell myself again, I wanna catch up on some changes
One of those situations, you can always get what you want
I just tell myself, ah, I just tell myself, ah, I just tell myself again

Louder (Live)   LYRICS

Louder   First released on Time & Place

You know I see you, but you walk outside
I couldn't call you with my throat gone dry
I finish up and leave some change
Step out of the curb and stare into the light

I won't go, I can see the trees from here
I won't shout, it's almost enough, when a whisper is deafening

Don't bother smiling in this pointless crowd
My friends talk ugly, we all look so loud
I finish up and say goodbye
Step out of the curb and straight into the night

I won't go, I can see the trees from here
I won't shout, it's almost enough, when a whisper is deafening
I won't go, I can see the trees from here
I won't shout, it's almost enough, when a whisper is deafening

The Wedding Song (Live)   LYRICS

The Wedding Song   First released on Kinecism

She seems to know, more things about me
Seldom a word, spoken so quietly,
But she sings to me, my lover, she sings for me, alone

And when I’m beyond, she brings the colour
When we’re apart, she’s even closer
Than I've ever known, and this time tonight I’ll be home, to you

Lover won’t you come, lover won’t you come?
Marry me tonight, lover won’t you come, back to me?

And when I’m broke, she’s there to mend it
Maybe my vow’s weaker than splendid
But I try again, oh lover, all over again, for you

Lover won’t you come, lover won’t you come?
Marry me tonight, lover won’t you come, back to me?

In The Company Of Talking Machines (Live)   LYRICS | Album only

In the Company of Talking Machines   First released on The 38th Parallel

There is a constant background noise
Frequency caught behind my eyes

Calling to you, easing through you, I want to shake you down
Falling for you, makes me want to keep both of us around

Noise of the crowd has drowned you out
The rate of the world is slowing down

Calling to you, easing through you, I want to shake you down
Falling for you, makes me want to keep both of us around

Falling for you, easing through you ... falling for you everywhere now

Calling to you, easing through you, I want to shake you down
Falling for you, makes me want to keep both of us around

Falling for you, easing through you ... falling for you everywhere now

North By North West (Live)   LYRICS

North By North West   First released on Kinecism

Stamp my feet against the cold and shift my
Bag into my other hand now
I could light a cigarette but
I am cutting down

Pay my fare to you and throw my bag down
On a seat for two, a Greyhound
Leaves tonight and in the morning
I’ll be in your town

Half way through the night and I am thinking
I am painted in a corner
One way out and that it to you
However I can

This time, let me be the one you wait for
Let me be the one it’s all for
Let me be the one who’s asking
Can I be your man?

Time enough for me, time enough for you

Can you look me in the eye and tell me
Secret tales and bitter stories
Of your life before you met me
I will understand, and this time
Let me be the one you wait for
Let me be the one it’s all for
Let me be the one who’s asking
Can I be your man?

Time enough for me, time enough for you

5 O'Clock High (Live)   LYRICS

5 O'Clock High   First released on Kites

As you wander out, people on the street
All around you hear, the shuffling of feet
I’ve been clockin’ in, I’ve been clockin’ out
And I’m counting steps, from the station to your house

Take you out tonight, you said you would try
There’s a little place, I know you will like
There is nothin’ the world cannot see
And there’s nowhere that I’d rather be

Everywhere I go, people that I meet
Look the same as me, they’re walking in their sleep
Every Friday night, we give it all away
Just a simple life, we work away the days

Have you seen the film that’s on at the Val?
I still call it that, it’s better there now
There is nothin’ the world cannot see
And there’s nowhere that I’d rather be
So come out tonight ...

There is nothin’ the world cannot see
There is nowhere that I’d rather be
So come out tonight ...

And now the end is in sight
No need to shut your eyes tight
A cab is idling outside, to take us into the night
To take us into the night ... that’s right

Dedicated to Brian N.R. Clarke

Red Card (Live)   LYRICS

Red Card   First released on Kinecism

With a gaze that’s as blank as a screen
What she says is not what she means
Feel you’re coming towards
Checkmate and nobody wins

Maybe she’ll leave a message for you
When she leaves like she’s planning to do
But the first that you know
Power’s off when you get home

Wrap it up through the lawyers and drones
Stay in touch with your kids on the phone
But it’s moving so fast
Feels like you’re missing it all

Oh, oh, oh, coming towards
Oh, oh, oh, coming towards

Carnivàle (Live)   LYRICS

Carnivàle   First released on The 38th Parallel

Don’t scream out now, from the faceless
A silent shout, no you shouldn’t ...

Stand, don’t you stand, don’t you stand in this crowd
Oh, don’t you stand, don’t you stand in this crowd

Clear cut and drowned, like it’s bleeding
Don’t make a sound, you know you couldn’t ...

Stand, don’t you stand, don’t you stand in this crowd
Oh, don’t you stand, don’t you stand in this crowd

Run where you can, while you can
Run where you can, while you can
Embracing time ...

Tripitaka-san (Live)   LYRICS | Album only

Tripitaka-san   First released on Time & Place

All the way, I stayed awake, it's a long flight back from JFK
Rest my head, I cannot sleep, but you know it's easier not to think
I can't stop sighing at what you said
I can't step quietly on this street

Only want to keep my eyelids falling
Only want to speak but I've lost my sense of timing
Only want to keep my head from falling
Only want to speak but I've lost all sense of timing

Eight a.m. at Paddington, I feel like Tripitaka-san
Rest my eyes, I want to sleep, but you know you have to talk that spin
I can't stop sighing at what you said
I can't step quietly on this street

Only want to keep my eyelids falling
Only want to speak but I've lost my sense of timing
Only want to keep my head from falling
Only want to speak but I've lost all sense of timing

I can't stop sighing at what you said
I can't step quietly on this street

Only want to keep my eyelids falling
Only want to speak but I've lost my sense of timing
Only want to keep my head from falling
Only want to speak but I've lost all sense of timing

Errol Street (Live)   LYRICS

Errol Street   First released on Kinecism

Where is the house with the iron fence?
Bordered by parks and tenements
Where is the shop with the hobby sign?
Down the 57 line

Walking around the old streets and vacant blocks
Drowning the mail in an old red letterbox

Finally I’m letting go, I’m letting go
Is it me, I’ll never know, I’m letting go

Where are the days that time forgot?
Shadows long and nights too hot
The only toys were guns and planes
And paper boats sailed open drains

Sipping coffee til we meet under the clocks
Caught in between true romance and the rocks

Finally I’m letting go, I’m letting go
Is it me, I’ll never know, I’m letting go

Speakeasy (Live)   LYRICS | Album only

Speakeasy   Previously unreleased

You can have a good time all the time
Silver-tongue devil will ease your mind
Be sure to clean the slate or feel the squeeze
If you lie down with the dog well, you’ll get fleas

Everyone who’s anyone goes there
Reporters, doctors, lawyers and the mayor
There’s even room for simple folk like us
You got money, ah, no one will make a fuss

Everyone with brass in pockets, dressed up to the nines
Everyone who dances to the beat
Everyone who loves to drink their liquor on the sly
Everyone gets high

I still lose control, even when I’m drifting to sleep
I still call you my doll, even when I speakeasy, easy
Even when I’m drifting to sleep
Even when I speakeasy

You can have a good time all the time
Silver-tongue devil will ease your mind
Be sure to clean the slate or feel the squeeze
If you lie down with the dog well, you’ll get fleas

Everyone with brass in pockets, dressed up to the nines
Everyone who dances to the beat
Everyone who loves to drink their liquor on the sly
Everyone gets high

I still lose control, even when I’m drifting to sleep
I still call you my doll, even when I speakeasy, easy
Even when I’m drifting to sleep
Even when I speakeasy

I still lose control, even when I’m drifting to sleep
I still call you my doll, even when I speakeasy, easy
Even when I’m drifting to sleep
Even when I speakeasy

Are You Leaving? (Live)   LYRICS | Film only

Are You Leaving?   First released on TThe 38th Parallel

How you managed this, you asked me, if I would
Now and then in time, it feels like I know it could

Are you leaving, are you leaving?
And you'll soon be, you're taking all you should

Don’t pretend it's right when I can see how it is
Now and then in time it feels like I know it should

Are you leaving, are you leaving?
And you'll soon be, you're taking all on, going where you should
